What did Jeep Change For the 2022 Cherokee?

The Jeep Cherokee is one of the longest-running models in the automaker’s global lineup. It has been in production for more than a quarter-century. During that time, generations of owners have come to rely on its capable performance and flexible interior configurations. For the current model year, Jeep didn’t quite redesign the popular Cherokee in 2022, but the manufacturer did add a new trim grade, upgrade an existing one and standardized some technological options. Let’s take a closer look at the 2022 Jeep Cherokee before you visit the Finch Chrysler showroom.

Cherokee X: A New 2022 e Trim

The Cherokee X will eventually join the compact SUV’s trim ladder later in its production cycle. It will feature off-road-themed styling elements that will bolster its rugged aesthetic. Additionally, it will feature trim-exclusive graphics on the exterior, and the inside will be outfitted with upgraded cloth/vinyl seats featuring specialized inserts. Also, the new Cherokee X model will arrive from the factory with a 1-inch suspension lift kit already installed and it will be powered by the standard 3.2-litre, V-6 engine.

Other additions to the 2022 Cherokee lineup include:

  • Power liftgate, auto-dimming rearview mirror, security alarm, and universal garage door opener on Trailhawk models.
  • Limited trims add Full Speed Forward Collision Warning Plus, Adaptive Control with Stop & Go, Lane Departure Warning Plus, Parallel/Perpendicular Park and Unpark Assist as standard equipment.
  • The 3.2-litre Pentastar V-6 engine will be the standard power plan on all models, except Sport trims.

2022 Cherokee Cargo Dimensions

Future owners of the 2022 Jeep Cherokee can do quite a bit of cargo-hauling with the compact crossover SUV. When people are sitting in the backseat, there will still be 730.5 litres (25.8 cu.-ft.) of cargo volume. Folding the rear seats away will make as much as 1,548.9 litres (54.7 cu.-ft.) available. Additionally, the 2022 Cherokee’s rear floor can be lowered to help it accommodate taller items.

Performance and Towing Scores

While the 3.2-litre V-6 engine is standard equipment, the Sport trim will use a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder powerplant. It will make 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. All 2022 Cherokee models that are not equipped with the Jeep towing package will have a towing capacity of 907 kg (2,000 lbs.). Adding the towing package to the V-6 engine will give 2022 Cherokee owners 2,041 kg (4,500 lbs.) of towing, and the turbocharged four-cylinder option can pull up to 1,800 kg (4,000 lbs.).
