Steps to Change Your Jeep Key Fob

You can easily change your key fob at home in a few quick steps. All you need is a replacement battery, many Jeep key fobs use a small battery such as a CR2032 3-volt battery, and a flat screwdriver. If you are in need of a new battery, one of our service technicians will be glad to assist you in finding the right one.

Once you have all the materials gathered, follow these steps:

  1. Slide the latch on the back of the fob to remove the emergency key
  2. Using the flat blade screwdriver in the space next to the slot, open the cover. Being sure to use caution and not apply too much force
  3. Gently pull the outer case away
  4. Pull the inner case away from the housing
  5. Slide the old battery out
  6. Insert the new battery. The positive side should be facing up
  7. Reattach the pieces of the fob
  8. Finally, reinsert the emergency key

Now that you have replaced the battery, your key fob should be back to working condition.
