Steps to Change Your Jeep Key Fob
You can easily change your key fob at home in a few quick steps. All you need is a replacement battery, many Jeep key fobs use a small battery such as a CR2032 3-volt battery, and a flat screwdriver. Once you have all the materials gathered, follow these steps:
- Slide the latch on the back of the fob to remove the emergency key
- Using the flat blade screwdriver in the space next to the slot, open the cover. Being sure to use caution and not apply too much force
- Gently pull the outer case away
- Pull the inner case away from the housing
- Slide the old battery out
- Insert the new battery. The positive side should be facing up
- Reattach the pieces of the fob
- Finally, reinsert the emergency key
Now that you have replaced the battery, your key fob should be back to working condition.
