Steps For Installing a Ram 1500 Spare Tire
With a few simple steps you can get the flat tire off of your truck and a spare tire on. First, be sure your vehicle is on a flat surface if possible, then turn the engine off. Once your vehicle is prepped follow these steps
1.To start, release the jack tool from under the front passenger seat by pulling the plastic cover towards you and unscrewing the wing bolt to release the tools.
2. Making sure the spring extension clips are secure, attach the lug wrench to the jack extension tube.
3.Slide the tool into the spare tire access hole located between the lower tailgate and top of the bumper.
4.Rotate the lug wrench handle counterclockwise until you get enough slack in the spare tire cable to pull it out. To release the tire, pull the retainer through the centre at an angle
5.Next, use one counter clockwise wheel on each lugnut of the flat tire
6.Place the scissor jack under the rear portion of the lower control arm for a front tire or under the axel between the tire and the shock bracket for a back tire. Making sure the handle points to the rear.
7.Connect the hook attachment to the jack and turn until your tire has enough clearance
8.Continue loosening the lug nuts until you can remove the flat tire.
9.Place the spare tire on the truck with the valve facing out and loosely secure
10.Lower your truck to the ground and finish tightening the lug nuts with alternating clockwise turns across each lugnut
11.Lastly, return the cable to stowing position, store the flat tire, and return the jack.
