Available as a plug-in hybrid electric SUV for the first time, two electric motors are just part of what makes the Grand Cherokee 4xe the Most Planet‑Friendly Grand Cherokee Ever.

THE POWER OF PLUG-IN HYBRID ELECTRIC

Optimize each trip with three E‑Selec driving modes to suit driving conditions and maximize your planet‑friendly impact.

Hybrid Mode

Two Power Sources, Twice The Fun

Get the best of both worlds thanks to Hybrid Mode, which optimizes performance while you drive by consuming electric power first. Combined torque from both the 2.0L turbocharged engine and the electric motors gives you maximum horsepower and acceleration.

Electric Mode

Minimum Emissions, Maximum Freedom

Use battery power for lower emissions for those day‑to‑day city drives, or for near‑silent exploration on the trail while still enjoying maximum horsepower and torque.

eSave Mode

Keep Your Battery on Backup

Save your battery power for when you need it – eSave Mode conserves battery power and operates on gasoline only, so you can take your time between charging sessions.

How Charging Works

Level I Charging

Level I

Charge anywhere that offers a standard three‑prong outlet with Level I charging and the included 115V charging cable.

Level I ChargingI

Level II

Level II charging uses a 240V connection and is currently available with specialized in‑home installation, or at most commercial charging stations

Charging at Home

Plug into Convenience

Keep your Jeep® electrified vehicle charged and ready easily with two at‑home charging options. The included Level I charging cable can conveniently charge from any standard three‑prong outlet in as little as 12 hours. An available professionally installed Level II at‑home charging station can get the job done in as little as two hours.

The Hybrid Pages allow you to set a charging schedule and program the time of day that your vehicle automatically charges when plugged in. In many locations, electricity rates are lower at night for additional savings, and recharging during periods of low demand is also more eco‑friendly.

Charging On the Go: The Power to Go the Distance

Charging On the Go:

The Power to Go the Distance

Recharge your Jeep 4xe Plug‑In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) on the go with the included Level I charging cable; just plug into any available three‑prong outlet for quick top‑ups. Level II charging available at commercial charging stations can completely charge the battery in as little as two hours.

Even longer distances can be zero‑emission when you include charging stations along your route. If you plan to recharge while you visit local attractions or enjoy a rest stop, your PHEV can be powering up and getting ready to take you to the next stop.

No charging station along the way? No problem. You can continue your journey using the gas‑powered engine for up to 761 km (depending on vehicle’s maximum combined range).

MORE FUN, LESS FUEL

YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Learn more about Jeep Electrified Vehicles and how they open up a new future of fun.

PHEV stands for Plug‑in Hybrid Electric Vehicle. Plug‑in Hybrid Electric Vehicles have a gas engine and electric motor(s) powered by a battery that can be charged by plugging it in. With a plug‑in hybrid SUV, you can drive using all‑electric power, the gas engine, or a combination of both.

A Hybrid vehicle does not plug in to recharge the battery; instead, it continuously recharges the battery via regenerative braking and through operation of the gasoline engine. The vehicle switches between electric and gasoline usage automatically for optimal performance.

A Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) has both battery operated motor(s) and a gasoline‑powered engine. Drivers can manually select which power source to use, or selection can be performed automatically according to selected settings. A PHEV has a larger battery capacity than a typical Hybrid vehicle, and can drive on eco‑friendly, zero‑emission electric mode for longer before the combustion engine takes over. This results in lower tailpipe emissions overall than a non-plug‑in hybrid vehicle.

The cost to charge an electric vehicle is influenced by a variety of factors including the size and capacity of the vehicle’s battery, the frequency of charging, the local price of electricity, the time of day, and the amount of voltage required. Therefore, different electrified vehicles will have different annual charging costs based on your driving habits and your location.

To manage charging costs, consider recharging your vehicle at night when electricity demand is lower and rates may be reduced, or having a Level II charger professionally installed at home to reduce total charging time. Jeep 4xe vehicles also benefit from the included Uconnect system’s Hybrid Pages, which allow you to program your charging to occur automatically at a set time of day when plugged in, and optimize your vehicle charging patterns.

Absolutely! Jeep 4xe PHEVs are plug‑in hybrid electric SUVs that combine powerful electric motors with a gas engine, which means that even when the battery isn’t charged, you can still drive using the gas engine alone.

Yes, it’s fine to partially charge the battery. The 4xe is equipped with specialized software that manages battery usage over its life cycle to optimize battery performance and longevity.

You can also schedule charging during a certain time of day using the included Uconnect system, such as at night when electricity charges are generally cheapest. This allows you to get a full charge when the vehicle is not in use
